The Portrait Studio · Wedding and event portrait photographer in Lancaster, PA

A real portrait of everyone who came

A professional photographer, a glowing white studio wall, and proper studio light, set up right inside your reception. Every guest is guided into a portrait worth framing, and each guest or group leaves holding it as a 5×7 print in an 8×10 mat, so the people who came to celebrate you go home with something they will keep for years.

What it actually is

A photographer in the room, directing every guest

The Portrait Studio is run by a professional photographer, not a screen and a button. Each guest steps up to a freestanding white wall that glows from within, and the photographer shows them where to stand, how to turn their shoulders, and what to do with their hands, so that nobody has to guess what looks good.

The light is the other half. One very large studio light, about six feet across, sits beside the photographer and wraps soft light around each guest from the front, while the glowing wall lights them from behind. The result is the clean, luminous look of a magazine portrait rather than the flat flash of a phone.

Guests who swear they hate having their picture taken are usually the ones who come back later with someone else, because being directed feels easy rather than awkward.

From a real night

Inside Katherine and Domenico’s wedding

Katherine and Domenico put The Portrait Studio in the hotel atrium for cocktail hour. Some nights need one station and some need two, and this one needed two, with a photographer at each. More than a hundred portraits printed on site, and our team framed every one of them during dinner, so each guest left holding a framed portrait of themselves.

The look

Black and white or color, your choice

You choose the finish when you book, and every portrait and print that night comes out that way. Black and white keeps every eye on the faces and makes the whole collection look like it belongs together, from the grandparents to the groomsmen. Color keeps the gowns, the flowers, and the room just as they were.

In color

The same light, in color

Some nights want color, and corporate headshots almost always do. Choose it when you book and every portrait and print comes out in color, lit exactly the same way.

What they take home

A print they will actually frame

Every guest or group leaves with their portrait printed on site as a 5×7 and set in a white 8×10 mat, ready to stand on a shelf or go straight into a frame. It is printed in minutes, while they are still at the party, so that nobody has to remember to download anything to keep the picture they loved.

That is the standard, and you are welcome to switch it up. We can use a different mat design to suit the night, and if you would rather provide your own mats or frames, we will assemble every portrait into them on site for an additional cost.

Afterward, you receive the full collection in a private gallery: every guest and every portrait, all in one place. It becomes the most complete record of who was in the room, and it is easy to share with everyone who was there.

Seen enough to ask about your date?

Where it fits

For the nights worth a proper portrait

Some events call for a party in a box. These call for something people will hang on a wall.

A bride and groom forehead to forehead, in black and white

Weddings

Every guest, not just the wedding party

Your photographer is busy with the two of you, which is exactly as it should be. The Portrait Studio takes care of everyone else, so that the college roommates, the cousins, and the grandparents who flew in all get a proper portrait of their own.

Corporate and galas

Headshots people will actually use

Galas, conferences, and leadership dinners become a chance for every guest to leave with a polished portrait, from LinkedIn headshots to donor, speaker, and board portraits, so that your event keeps showing up long after it ends.

Milestones

The night three generations share a frame

Anniversaries, milestone birthdays, and family reunions. Getting everyone into one room takes years, and this is how each family leaves with a portrait worthy of the occasion instead of a blurry phone shot somebody has to be chased for later.

For a wedding

$2,495 for two hours

Each extra hour is $995. A fifty percent retainer and a signed contract hold your date, and there is no travel fee anywhere from Lancaster to York, Harrisburg, Hershey, Gettysburg, or Baltimore. For a gala or a company event, we design the studio around your room and your guest count.

Before you book

The things people ask us every time

How is this different from a photo booth?

A photo booth takes a picture of whoever steps in, and at a party that is exactly the fun of it. The Portrait Studio is a sitting: a photographer lights and directs each guest and takes the portrait for them. The two sit happily side by side at the same reception, a booth for the dance floor and the studio for the portraits.

Do the portraits come in color or black and white?

Either one, and the choice is yours. Tell us which you want when you book, and every portrait and print that night comes out that way.

Can we use a different mat, or our own frames?

Yes. The standard is a 5×7 print in a white 8×10 mat, and you are welcome to switch it up for a different mat design. You can also provide your own mats or frames, and we will assemble every portrait into them on site for an additional cost.

What if our guests hate having their picture taken?

That is exactly who this is for. The photographer tells each guest where to stand and what to do, so there is nothing to figure out and nothing to feel awkward about. Most people relax after the first frame, and once they see how easy it is, they tend to come back with someone else.

How much space does it need?

Plan on a clear area about ten feet deep and fifteen feet wide. The white wall stands at the back, and the photographer and the light work from the front of that space, so that nobody feels crowded while they are being photographed.

Is there a portrait studio like this near me?

If you are anywhere from Lancaster to York, Harrisburg, Hershey, Gettysburg, or Baltimore, yes, and there is no travel fee to any of them.

Can it be branded for a corporate event?

Yes. Branded delivery is available, and the full collection comes back to you in a private gallery, so that your organization has a polished record of everyone who attended.

How booking works

Four steps, and only one of them is yours

One

You send us the date

We tell you straight away whether it is open and whether The Portrait Studio is the right fit for your night.

Two

We plan the timing

When the studio opens, roughly how many guests, and how the evening runs, so that it is open while people are free rather than during dinner or the toasts.

Three

We set up early

The wall, the light, and the print station are built and tested before your guests arrive, and out of the way of everything else.

Four

Everyone leaves with a print

Every guest or group takes home a 5×7 portrait in an 8×10 mat, and the full collection comes to you afterward.

Tell us about your event

Tell us what the night is for and we will tell you what it takes. We take a limited number of events per date.
